NDT Training

Qualification and Certification

ATS NDT courses meet or exceed the requirements of SNT-TC1-A, ATA 105, AC 65-31, and NAS 410 (Mil-STD-410E). Written qualification examinations are offered at Level I, II and Corporate Level III in accordance with the employer’s written practice.

Facilities

The ATS training facility is located at our Marietta, Georgia headquarters.  We have fully equipped classroom and laboratory facilities including the use of our working NDT services division facilities.  Our location just 15 miles north of downtown Atlanta provides easy access from Hartsfield International Airport and major interstates.  (Map link)

On-Site Training

ATS’s training courses are also available for presentation at your facility. A course at your facility can provide cost savings benefits and be formatted to your specific needs.

Level III Consulting Services

ATS can provide Level III services for your company including preparing your written practice and certifying your personnel.  Training courses and examinations can be written to reflect the equipment and procedures in use at your facility.  ATS can assist in preparing your inspection procedures and auditing your facility to assure conformance to specifications.

Course Descriptions
 

Liquid Penetrant

Level I/II-12 Hours for SNT-TC-1A, 32 Hours for NAS 410 class

An intensive study of the theory, processes and techniques applicable to both visible and fluorescent penetrant.  Includes both classroom and laboratory sessions.

 

Magnetic Particle

Level I/II-20 Hours for SNT-TC-1A, 32 Hours for NAS 410 class

A complete course covering both theory and practical application of magnetic particle testing methods and equipment.

 

Radiography

Level I-40 Hours

A comprehensive course in principles and theory of radiography. Includes radiation safety, operation of radiographic equipment, film and film processing.

Level II-40 Hours

An advanced course in radiographic techniques, radiation safety requirements, and film interpretation principles. Technique development and operation to codes and standards is stressed.

Film Interpretation-40 Hours

A specialized course designed to develop skills in evaluating radiographs.

Radiation Safety-40 Hours

An intensive course covering safety requirements for radiographer certification.

 

Ultrasonic

Thickness-16 Hours

A two-day course covering thickness gauging of pipe and vessel walls using ultrasonic instruments with digital and waveform displays.

Level I-40 Hours

An intensive course covering the fundamentals of Ultrasonics. Practical laboratory exercises include thickness gauging and a variety of flaw detection, mapping, and evaluation techniques. This course is designed for technicians with little or no ultrasonic testing experience

Level II-40 Hours

An advanced laboratory-intensive course for developing practical skills. The course is applications oriented and includes weld inspection, bond inspection, and immersion techniques. Angle beam testing and defect evaluation are covered in detail.  This course is designed for Level I Technicians that have completed Level I training and have some experience with UT Testing

Weld Inspection-40 Hours

An advanced course in ultrasonic weld inspection techniques, intended for persons who will inspect welds according to the AWS, ASME, and other codes, or who must develop their own in-house weld inspection procedures.

  

Eddy Current

Aircraft Wheel Inspection        -24 Hours

Covers basic eddy current theory and techniques for aircraft wheel inspection. This course is designed for aircraft maintenance personnel performing wheel maintenance to FAA requirements.

Level I- 40 hours

A basic course in eddy current theory, test instrumentation, coils, and basic impedance plane principles. Applications studied include conductivity, lift-off, thickness, and flaw detection applications.

Level II- 40 Hours

An advanced program stressing eddy current test setup and display interpretation based on impedance plane analysis. This course covers many applications using surface probes, ID probes, and encircling coils.


General NDT

Introduction to NDT                 -40 Hours

A general one-week course surveying all phases of nondestructive testing for engineers, auditors, managers and, nondestructive test personnel who require a basic understanding of NDT methods.     
Level III Refresher                     -40 Hours

Level III refresher courses are designed to prepare a Level III for examination or re-examination in a particular NDT method.

Registration – Registration for ATS training courses is open to individuals and companies.  Although there are no academic requirements for enrollment, Level II courses are intended for individuals who have successfully completed Level I training in a particular method.

Course Materials – Training materials are provided for daily use as well as future reference. Training materials are supplemented with handouts and daily quizzes.  Course completion certificates are provided to each student passing the course examination for which 70% is a passing grade.

Payment – Payment or approved company purchase order is required by the first day of training. Registration must be received two (2) weeks prior to class commencement. Cancellations may be made up to seven days before the beginning of a class. Cancellations after this are subject to a 50% cancellation charge.
