On-site Calibrations for Hardness Testers
Applied Technical Services has the capability to calibrate a variety of Hardness Testers on-site at your facility. ATS uses indirect verification per the applicable ASTM Standard. We offer calibration of the following Hardness Testers:
- Standard Rockwell Hardness Testers which includes C, B, and A Scales. To certify your Standard Rockwell Hardness tester to the current revision of ASTM E18, you are required to have certified penetrators. If certified penetrators are not available, we can certify your tester to the previous revision. We offer NIST Traceability on C Scale only.
- Superficial Rockwell Hardness Testers which includes 15, 30, 45 N"T Scales. To certify your Superficial Rockwell Hardness tester to the current revision of ASTM E18, you are required to have certified penetrators. If certified penetrators are not available, we can certify your tester to the previous revision. We offer NIST Traceability on C Scale only.
- Twin Scale Hardness Testers which include C, B, and A Scales plus 15, 30, 45 N"T Scales. To certify your Superficial Rockwell Hardness tester to the current revision of ASTM E18, you are required to have certified penetrators. If certified penetrators are not available, we can certify your tester to the previous revision. We offer NIST Traceability on C Scale only.
- Microhardness Testers are calibrated with NVLAP certified blocks and are calibrated in accordance with the latest revision of ASTM E384. ATS can calibrate both Knoop and/or Vickers Testers.
- Brinell Hardness Testers (500, 1500, and 3,000 kg loads) are calibrated with NVLAP certified blocks and are calibrated in accordance with the latest revision of ASTM E10. Current revision of E10 requires the tester to have carbide indenters. ATS will be unable to calibrate a tester that only has steel indenters.
All calibrations performed in the field are performed through indirect verification with blocks certified in accordance with NVLAP. We do offer traceable calibration to NIST, The National Institute of Standard and Technology for C Scale Rockwell Testers only. All calibrations are performed in accordance to documented and controlled internal procedures. Our Quality Assurance system complies with the applicable requirements of ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, ISO 9001-2000, 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR Part 21 and ISO/IEC 17025. Upon request, we can provide calibrations that are accredited to A2LA. Upon completion of our service at your facility you will be provided with Calibration Certificates for all the items calibrated at your facility. You can also be set up on our web based interface, IPortal, which gives you access to electronic copies of Calibration Certificates, asset history and due date reports for your equipment.
